Fun & Serious Game Festival – Official Rules
1.1. The Fun & Serious Game Festival is a competition to select the best video games in several fun and serious game categories. Winners will not get any cash or other prizes but the honour of being considered the best video game in a given category.
1.2. The Fun & Serious Game Festival Nominating Committee , including professional video game designers, consultants, journalists, and university professors, is announcing the Fun & Serious Game Festival Annual Awards 2012 for serious and video game projects, companies, and professionals .
1.3. Companies and games developed and legally published in 2012 shall all be eligible to enter the video game competition under the terms and conditions below. To be eligible, games must be entered or selected by the Advisory Committee after being supplied by their proprietary companies for evaluation.
1.4. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the organisers can grant special awards to video game productions or professionals.
2. AWARD CATEGORIES
2.1. Entries can be nominated to get awards in the following categories:

2.1.2. SERIOUS GAMES
Best Health Video Game

2.2. The awards will be granted to those video games or professionals selected in accordance with the voting procedure described in (4) and (5) below.
3. VIDEO GAME NOMINEES
3.1. The nominees for the award categories will be decided by the Fun & Serious Game Festival Advisory Committee. Then, the judges in each category (Fun Games and Serious Games) will choose the winners among the nominees.
3.2. In addition to (i) the video games (fun and serious games) nominated by the Advisory Committee , companies will be able to enter (ii) their own fun or serious games by filling in the official registration form available at the Fun & Serious Game Festival website.
3.3. The entry deadline for the Fun & Serious Game Festival's 2012 edition is Sunday, 30 September 2012. Registration will be open as of Tuesday, 29 May 2012.
3.4. If no playable version of the entered games is available before the entry deadline, developers and editors will get an extension until Monday, 15 October 2012. However, they shall fill in the registration form between 29 May and 30 September 2012, like the other entrants.
3.5. Entrants who fail to meet all the requirements in these Official Rules or who provide false or wrong information may be disqualified by the judges.
The Fun & Serious Game Festival judges will represent various disciplines and have different cultural backgrounds. They will all be renowned video game professionals.
The judges will come from all the fields in the video game industry, from the training of video game artists and developers to expert knowledge and video game design, as well as game consultancy and journalism.
There will be different judges for fun game and serious game categories.
5. WINNER SELECTION PROCESS
5.1. Among the candidates entered into the Festival through any of the channels described in 3, the Advisory Committee shall shortlist the finalists in every category. The number of finalists in each category shall be decided by the members of the Advisory Committee.
5.2. Once the Advisory Committee has shortlisted the finalists, the Fun & Serious Game Festival judges shall choose the winners through secret ballot.
5.3. The judges can vote from Sunday, 30 September 2012 to Friday, 9 November 2012.
5.4. The voting results will be known by the Fun & Serious Game Festival judges only.
5.5. Serious Game Winners: The winners in the serious game categories will be announced during the voting period, just after the judges make their decision. The names of the winners will be announced on the official website. Winners shall pick up their prizes on Thursday, 29 November 2012 at the Fun & Serious Game Festival Award Gala being held in Bilbao , Spain .
5.6. Fun Game Winners: The finalists in the fun game categories will be announced at a press conference a few days before the Award Gala. The winners will be announced at the gala itself, and they shall pick up their prizes on Thursday, 29 November 2012 at the Fun & Serious Game Festival Award Gala being held in Bilbao , Spain .
5.7. All game prizes will be awarded at the Fun & Serious Game Festival Award Gala being held in Bilbao , Spain , on 29 November 2012.
5.8. As described above, the prizes will be honourable mentions to the best game in each of the categories listed in 2.1. There will be no cash or other prizes.
6. GENERAL VOTING RULES
6.1. Winners will be selected by the Fun & Serious Game Festival judges only.
6.2. Both finalists and winners shall attend the events organised by the Fun & Serious Game Festival and covered by the media.
6.3. All votes will be secret. In case of draw, they will be decided by the President of the Jury.
6.4. Should disputes arise over the interpretation of these Official Rules, they will be resolved by the judges, whose decisions will be final and binding.
6.5. The special awards and tributes without shortlisted candidates will be decided by the Festival's organisers and announced a few weeks before the Award Gala.

- Registration and video game entry deadline: Sunday, 30 September 2012.
- Winner selection deadline: Friday, 9 November 2012.
- Award Gala: Thursday, 29 November 2012, Bilbao , Spain .

8. PRIZE DELIVERY TERMS
8.1. All prizes will be awarded on site at the Fun & Serious Game Festival Award Gala, which will be attended by the judges. The Award Gala is being held in Bilbao , Spain , on Thursday, 29 November 2012.
8.2. The gala can also be attended, under the terms and conditions above, by nominees and guests invited by the organisers. All gala invitations will be managed by the organisers. The gala will not be open to the public, nor will tickets for it be sold at points of sale or ticket offices.
9. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
9.1. In case (i) there are no entries in a given category; (ii) the response is not as expected; or (iii) the entries' quality fails to meet the Fun & Serious Game Festival's organisers' standards, the prizes in this category will not be awarded. Likewise, the Festival can be cancelled, even if already started, owing to circumstances beyond the organisers' control.
9.2. Neither the organisers nor the members of the Festival's Committees (Nominating Committee, Advisory Committee or any other committee established) or the judges shall be in contact with participants except to answer questions in connection with the Festival itself. In any case, all inquiries should be addressed to the Festival's organisers at firstname.lastname@example.org .
9.3. Should disputes arise over the development of the Festival, they shall be resolved by the Courts of Bilbao, and both the organisers and the participants/winners agree to renounce any other applicable jurisdiction.
9.4. By entering their video games for this Festival, participants agree to these Official Rules, as interpreted by the Fun & Serious Game Festival judges.
